Group Claims Tueni Killing

Syria: Group Claims Tueni Killing
December 12, 2005 15 05 GMT

The previously unknown group, Strugglers for the Unity and Freedom of the Levant, claimed responsibility for the assassination of Lebanese legislator and critic of Syria, Gebran Tueni, in a faxed statement to Reuters on Dec. 12. The statement says the same consequences would result for other "opponents of Arabism in Lebanon" and that Tueni had not stopped his criticism despite "warnings sent time and again." The group referenced Tueni's newspaper An-Nahar, saying that Tueni's pen was "broken," and that the paper was "transformed into a very dark night."

Lebanon pro-Syria ministers suspend government role

BEIRUT, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Five pro-Syrian Lebanese Shi'ite Muslim ministers and an ally of the president said on Monday they were suspending participation in the cabinet after it voted to call for a U.N. inquiry into a series of political killings.

Prime Minister Fouad Siniora had called for the urgent session hours after the killing of anti-Syrian lawmaker and newspaper magnate Gebran Tueni in a car bomb in Beirut.

"This is not a resignation from the government but a suspension of membership in the cabinet while awaiting a decision from our political leadership," Hizbollah Energy Minister Mohammed Fneish told reporters.

"We object to the principle of internationalising all Lebanese files ... and abandoning (Lebanon's) sovereignty," he added.

The government called on the United Nations to form a tribunal of an "international character" to try suspects in the Feb. 14 killing of ex-Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri. It also asked the council to investigate all attacks in Lebanon over the past 14 months.

The Shi'ite ministers include Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh, Hizbollah's Labour Minister Trad Hamadeh and two ministers from the Shi'ite Amal group.

The non-Shi'ite is Environment Minister Yacoub Sarraf, a Christian who is close to pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud.

If you wish a proof that the Assad Regime killed Tweini, all you have to do is visit the Conference Room called "Damascus" in the Site called "www.modon.org".

The Problem is this Conference Room is hidden from the outside world, and only Registered users can see it.

That site is full of Assadists. It is their den.

This is a sample of what they are saying in Arabic:

Dr. Landis,

One of the interesting observations of the Mehlis report today relates to the fact that, according to two of the Vienna witnesses, all Syrian intelligence documents about Lebanon had been burned. The probe also claimed that Syrian intelligence archives had no material whatsoever about Harriri’s slaying.

If this information is confirmed to be accurate, one cannot help but ask the following question:

If the leadership of a country is wrongly accused of murder, how can it burn the documents that can be used to prove its innocence? If it is thinks it had been set up, and that the accusation against it is nothing but an attack against its political stand, how can its own archives contain no material whatsoever?

Dr. Landis. Don’t you think this case should be over and done with if what the report claims proves to be accurate?

Could by any chance the two be related?

Some thoughts while I am doing a quick read of this Mehlis report:

28. saddik is now acknowledged to no longer be regarded as a credible witness.

30. The commission recieved 'credible information' that Hussam's family were threatened?? Credible like Saddikk was credible? Or credible like Hussam is credible? It seems Mehlish believes the story he wants to believe, just like the Bush admin only believed intel that built the war case, no matter how flimsy.

It is interesting that Mehlis is not just letting the Husam testimony go (and saying we don't need it) and this indicates to me that they need and are relying on his testimony, unlike with Saddik.

31. 'New witnesses with potentially critical information'--Excellent, so these people have had nearly a year now to fine-tune their stories and now are ready to come out. Please, this game is being played on both sides--Lebanon and Syria. I wonder if my Lebanese friends at least admit that it is more than likely at least one of these new witnesses is created and coached by people wishing to implicate Syria. Or will they claim bribery is impossible and they must only speak the truth?

74-87: Yes the Syrian officials were very slow in their reponse. This can be interpreted as intentionally misleading, or we can remember that everything in Syria is slow. As a symbolic example, it took me 3 months to update my ID card. Or maybe the Syrians wanted to move carefully to protect their rights. In my own biased Syrian view, I will give the benifit of the doubt to the Syrian athorities. In Mehlis' biased view, I think he would choose the former.

The rest of the report is nothing new from the previous report. **True the burning of documents is potentially damning, but no smoking gun for sure**

So I still see no concrete evidence implicating Syria. I see many potentially contaminated witnesses and the way Mehlis has written his report makes it seem as if he knows Syria has done it and he is just searching for evidence to prove his already formed conclusion.

And so the investigation will go on, and Syria (and Lebanon for that matter) will continue to be in turmoil (economic or political) while the world awaits the 'final' Mehlis report. But it is looking to me that Mehlis will never have any concrete proof implicating Syria. It seems his best is witness testimony and wishful thinking.

And that is obviously a problem because I think the Hariri supporters and the US neocons have no problem resting their case on that, while Syrias will demand concrete evidence. So somebody is going to feel cheated in the end, if the end is ever reached in this sad saga.

And condolences to the Lebanese for Tueni 's murder. No reason or excuse can ever justify the killing of innocent people. What a despicable act.

I just want to laugh!

So, EC thinks the Assad Regime did not kill Hariri, and this is all a setup, and a false accusation. Syria (Assad Regime) is innocent of Hariri blood, and I said earlier, it may be so!

But that does not change the fact that this regime killed thousands of Lebaqnese, and Tens of thousands of Syrians. I did not think Hariri's blood is more important, but I am glad that his innocent blood will sparkle the end of this bloody regime. Killing one more or being innocent of one more innocent perosn's blood does not mean anything to me. This regime has to go. It is a regime of killers, and finally the world is catching up with its men (creatures).

JAM, personally I think Syria probaly did it.

I am just saying the evidence that Mehlis has is still not very convincing. He still hasn't come up with anything that would really justify an arrest of a Syrian official. And so Syria is stuck for at least another 6 months of being guilty until proven innocent or guilty. And this state is casting a shadow over everything Syria does. Our economy will suffer, our people will suffer.

And ultimately the Syrian people, who in large part back Bashar, are going to feel cheated when the Security Council looks at this 'evidence' and says 'good enough for me--its Syria for sure'.

No Ec;

The Syrian people back Presicdent George W. Bush. The Syrian people were very disappointed of the US performance in Iraq, and were at first hoping that the US would continue to Syria. If President Bush went with enough force into Iraq, and tried right away to take the Assad Regime, the Syrian people would have cheered and supported the US army right away.

We are fed up with waiting for eternity trying to reason with this deceiver and cheater and humanily retarded son of hafez Assad, the dictator and human scum that thought he was eternal. The Syrian people admired the courageous George W Bush at first, for this president was the first one since the 1960's who decided to go to the terrorists in their hideaways.

The Syrian people will certainly be happy once the decision to take out this bloody regime is taken. The Regime has left us no choice but to expect the worst, in the hope of seeing a change.

God bless President George W Bush.

These killing is no doubt an Act of God. President Assad is a nice person who is reasonable, fair and progressive. It is time for the Neo-con Artists and their supporters to get off Bashar and Syria back. Go and find something else to busy world mind from the miserable failure called Iraq that was passed as a grand scam for Democracy in the Middle East.

If anyone has proofs that Syrians did the attacks on Hariri and Tueni, then lets hear it, lets see it.

Now they are starting new scam, opening up mass graves and blaming Syria for it. No one remember that it was the Jews who murdered tens of thousands of Syrians and Lebanese in the 80's. They forgot that all those mass graves are from Israeli bombing raids on civilian area of Lebanon.

Doe anyone knows how many Jewish attacks were made on Civilian targets in Lebanon? Does anyone know the number of casualties this Jewish criminal attack caused and where those mutilated corpses were buried?

Does anyone remember the massive civilian causalities of KANA massacre and the hundreds of civilian massacres committed by the war criminal Sharon and his criminal Jewish people.

Does anyone remember Sabra and Shatila

Does anyone remember the attack on the schools in Lebanon that mass killed all those infants and toddlers.

You don't remember any of that now, do you, or just don't want to, because you do not want to offend Sharon slaves in Washington. Hoping that they will somehow free Syria for you.

What a bunch of morons and criminals. Syria do not need Jewish agents like you back in our Holy land of Syria and Lebanon

So you just trying to convict the Syrians and President Assad without any evidence? Just because Christian Lebanese / Junblat said so and Mossad fabricated some shady evidences like those Niger invoices for Yellow cake that were giving to embassy in Italy?

We are going to find evidence and we will incriminate this failed regim, this regime of shame.

Do you really think Israel will waste time on you, ploting and messing around? Israel does not give a bug about damascus. israel lost inteste in you before you were borm maybe.

Who else could be doing this? Honestly answer? The Turks? The Chypriots? or the eskimos?

What is this SRP all about anyway? There is no mention of it outside of this box here anywhere else.

When you have a steady and consistent opinion, I may argue or discuss with you, but you seem to have shifted 180 degrees few times, not once. That is not something you should be proud of.

So..Assad did not kill Kamal Junblat, Did not kill 2 Lebanese Presidents? Did not kill thousands of Lebanese? Thousands of Syrians? May be not thousands of Iraqis? Well, my point is it does not matter if this awful regime killed Hariri or Tweini or not (Though I am sure it did), I said earlier, if you think this regime is innocent of Kamal Junblat, and all the others, including Omran, Beetar, and thousands of others, then proving that it is innocent of Hariri or Tweini might be a reasonable point to argue to prove its innocence...but the regime is guilty of the mass and indiuvidual killings before, and you can not prove otherwise, and that is what counts to me.

If any serious evidences exist, then why the hell the whole world is making deals with Damascus since the first Mehlis report?

Why Frances Total signed a multibillion deal last week with Assad? Why the Brits accepted the 13.7 Billion cash deposit. What those Arab leaders bended over to help President Assad, why the Chinese and Russian were in Damascus signing all those multi Billion deals last week.

Obviously they are either rotten human scum that are just as pure Criminals and need to be tried, or there are not a shred of evidences to blame Syria that is not a lie or a fabrication.

Lets stop playing these silly games with the people of Syria. So which one you think, it is the truth?

I made my bet on games and no evidences whatsoever.

In short, it is Iraq all over again, because we have egomaniac such as Saddam and Assad who are in charge, and they never believed that they are stupid and their so called intelligence was given to them as a propaganda only by those who will defeat them now. Saddam played and played, and thought he was smart, but he ended up / down in his hole, designed especially for Baathists.

There are no mention of it because SRP only became public since May of this year. We do not call the media, distribute material or call AL Jazeera or issue Bayanat, Takarir and shit like that. We have not even promoted our web address as of yet. We see no necessity to do that at all even now. Let the people in the "Opposition Business" do that.
